Symposium on Brain Health: Dementia and Alzheimer’s

On Tuesday October 23th, the Western New York Public Health Alliance, the New York State Public Health Association, the Alzheimer’s Association® Western New York and the Health Foundation of Western and Central New York will be sponsoring a symposium on brain health with a focus on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This symposium will be held at Holiday Valley Resort Lodge in the Fairway room in Ellicottville New York from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

This event will be free of charge and is open to the public. A free lunch is included with your registration for the event. The speakers for this event are Bruce Troen, MD: Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Director of the Center for Successful Aging, Co-Director of the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease, and Director of Geriatric Services at the Erie County Medical Center, Sarah Harlock: Program Director of the Integrative Center for Memory at Dent Neurologic Institute, John Shean: Associate Director of Public Health for the Alzheimer’s Association and David Gonlag: Dementia patient, Alzheimer’s Association WNY Board member and Advocate.

In addition to the speakers, all participants will also receive the CDC/Alzheimer’s Association guidebook “Healthy Brain Initiative’s State and Local Public Health Partnerships to Address Dementia: The 2018-2023 Road Map”.

The Western New York Public Health Alliance (WNYPHA) is a not-for-profit organization comprised of the Health Commissioners/Public Health Directors and other community public health leaders from the eight counties of Western New York. Their mission is to support collaboration across WNY to further public health initiatives and priorities.
